Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA) Forum – Intersec – January 24, 2017

Intersec 2017 exhibition and conference the Dubai government will publicly launch the newly formed Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA); on January 24, 2017 in Al Multaqua Ballroom, Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre – attendance free provided attendees complete the registration online or on the day from 13:00 – Presentation commences at 14:00

The forum will be platform for industry leaders to discuss the new security law (12) 2016 related to the regulation of the security industry in Dubai.

The Security Industry Regulatory Agency is a governmental body which is concerned with the regulation of the Security Industry in Dubai.

ASIS Dubai Chapter meeting 16th of November; 2 guest speakers and 2017 Committee Elections

Dear ASIS Int. Members and fellow security professionals,

We are pleased to announce that our chapter meeting for November 2016, shall be held at 19:30 (7:30pm) on Wednesday the 16th of November 2016 at Emirates Aviation College, Auditorium, Building A. The Aviation College provides parking free of charge for events. You can notify the Security Guard at the entrance that you are attending the ASIS meeting.
In pursuance of our goals of sharing industry best practices and benefitting members from mutual learning opportunities, we are delighted to have the following two guest speakers:

• Security for Hospitals by Phillip Johnson, PSP, RCDD, AVSEC PM
Phillip Johnson is a result driven professional with extensive years of experience in strategic planning and project management. Knowledgeable in technical and physical security specializing in airport, seaport and expertise in IT and telecommunication designs. Established track record in implementation of strategically designed client based solutions. He is a frequent speaker at security telecommunications and transportation conferences including ASIS, BICSI and NATRANS.
He shall be sharing his knowledge and insights about the challenges & opportunities securing Hospitals and the medical professional.

• Travel Security & Intelligence by Richard Strudwick, from the Anvil Group
Richard is a consulting led and customer focused security professional with over 24 years’ experience in the provision of security solutions & consultancy to corporate blue chip clients. He has talents include providing security, risk consulting, close protection, travel risk, major events and manned guarding to devise bespoke security solutions for his clients. Some of his key projects include 2016 Pirelli Calendar Launch, 2012, Olympic Sponsors security programs for Coca Cola, McDonald’s and NBC, Sport Accord 2012, Papal Visit 2010, and Royal Ascot (Ascot Hospitality). He will present on Travel Security & Intelligence and the new tools available for protecting employees and providing security during business trips.

Annual Election of Committee for 2017
We will be holding our Annual Election of Chapter Officers at the Chapter Meeting on the 16th of November 2016. To re-iterate the process that was communicated at the last Chapter Meeting (and in line with Procedure 4009) anyone wishing to stand as a Chapter Officer should notify the Election Committee prior to 12:00 on the 16th of November 2016 if they intend to stand and in what capacity. The Election Committee will oversee the election in accordance with Procedure 4009. The election committee comprises of Yogesh Arora (yogesharora22@hotmail.com), David Erasmus (david.erasmus@jard.me).’

ASIS Dubai Chapter 250 breakfast meeting scheduled for 19th of October 2016

• Last Mile Consortium Railroad Security by John Greaves
John has been involved in AIDC (Bar Code, Radio Frequency Technology, and Biometrics) for nearly 40 years. His pioneering work in the area of Global Logistics, Inventory Management, Health Care and Cultural Heritage are the basis for the use of RF deployments for Museums, Rail Stores, Global Logistics, Source tagging and Transportation with both active and passive RFID which has led to the significant adoption occurring in RF globally today. He is now the Secretary General of Last Mile Consortia, UK. LMC is a collective of highly capable companies coupled together to satisfy every aspect of any requirements to enable new and usable railway connections and terminals.

He shall be sharing his knowledge and insights about the challenges & opportunities in Railway Security with specific focus to prevailing situation in the region.

• Retail Loss Prevention & Security by Katie Shepard
Katie is the General Manager for Asset & Profit Protection at Majid Al Futtaim. She is a Graduate of Coventry University, University of Leeds, and Buckinghamshire New University with Diplomas in Business Continuity, Emergency & Crisis Management, Masters of Applied Translation Studies, and Bachelors of Modern Languages. She has held positions as a Security Manager, Communications Manager, Central Security Operations Project Manager, Area Loss Prevention Manager, Project Manager – Corporate Audit & Loss Prevention, and Senior Manager – Loss Prevention. .

She will present on Retail Loss Prevention and its impact on the Retail community security.
