Recently, the Dubai chapter of ASIS International celebrated their 10th year anniversary with an awards dinner during which foundation members were recognised for their achievements and support of ASIS International. 25 members signed the original chapter petition in May 2005 which was approved by the ASIS International’s global board of directors in July 2005, thus establishing the Dubai chapter of ASIS International.
With over 50 participants, this dinner gratefully sponsored by Nedap, included members from the UAE chapters of Dubai and Abu Dhabi with congratulation videos sent in by past presidents and supporters.
In recognition of his leadership and commitment to the chapter, a plaque was presented to the foundation member and chairman Dr Abdullah Al Hashimi who has notably led the chapter as the chairman for the past 10 years. Members acknowledged that without Dr Abdullah’s support, commitment and dedication to ASIS International, the Dubai chapter would not have enjoyed as great success and achievements.
Chapter Vice-chairman, Peter Page, CPP presented the chapter’s journey alongside the past ten years development of Dubai documenting who the Dubai chapter has matured and grown with Dubai’s continued developing and evolving environment.
Recent Certified Protection Professional (CPP) Board certification recipients were recognised by the presentation of CPP pins by Nedap Managing Director for the Middle East, Joost van der Willik.
Finally, two foundation members, Ronald O’Brien Williams and Manni Hughes, were asked to present to the attendees their recollection of the early days of the chapter and then were presented with Certificates of Appreciation for their dedication and support not only for ASIS International, but also for Advancing the Security Profession.
